iSTAR Depot sites

Description

During the iSTAR field work operation depot sites were used for the storage of surveying equipment, vehicles and fuel during iSTAR traverse and over the winter season. The main fuel depot for iSTAR was created at iSTAR East (iSTRE) located at S7510.227 W89 00.423 and is subject to a previous IEE.The fuel that was stored at the depot is listed below; .

- 31,223l of AVTUR in 6 bladders

- 6 x 205l drums Petrol

- 3 x 205l drums Avtur

- 1 x 205l drum of Kerosene

- 13 x jerry cans of Petrol

The depot is positioned on snow ~50 km from the top of the ice divide. The closest rock outcrop is approximately 200 km away and the nearest known crevasses are ~150 km away. Empty drums were removed periodically and all drums were removed on abandonment of these depots.
